Press Release: Highlights of the Quayside Festival

Bridgwater Quayside Festival will be on Saturday 8th July 11am to 5pm taking place across Bridgwater Town Centre

Live music and street theatre will be throughout the town including RSVP Bhangra (straight from Glastonbury), Clashnikovs (inspired by the Clash), The Kahunas, Big Noise Street Band, Jon Maybey and with fabulous street theatre shows, international hula hoop star Angie Mack and Ben Cornish and Merlin Cadogan. In the Picnic in the Park in Blake Gardens the circus spectacle Cirque de Silk. The Giant inflatable Monster, Bezerker, will be at the Engine Room plus the world premiere Babblesnatch Exhibition by sound artist Leona Jones. At the Library, circus skills with Mr Burt and enjoy storyteller Sarah Mooney in Blake Gardens.

Join in with air dry clay making with the Brick and Tile Museum in Blake Gardens, arts activities at the Bridgwater Arts Centre along with an arts craft fair, the Beach Buoys Sea Shanty Singers, Heritage Walks, and the exhibition ‘Out of the Blue”. Bridgy Gallery will be showing the work of local artists work and offering arts activities for all ages.

 Bridgwater and Taunton College will be performing on the High Street and in the Town Hall showcasing their student work. Seed Sedgemoor will present Grandfather Jem, the Victorian Showman in his Little Tent of Wonders on a stage opposite Angel Place and the Seed Sedgemoor’s Guitar and Bass Group, a local community group playing covers and original music.

Explore Bridgwater Blake Museum. Meet Bowlore medieval Knights of the Round Table with a hands-on armour display and the popular sword-school, for all ages.

The Festival starts with Church bells of Saint Mary Church ringing out at 11.00 to mark the Festival opening and the Combwich Boat Club will row a Cornish Pilot Gig up to Bridgwater using the tide to arrive around 11.00am in support of the Festival.

The Quayside Festival has been created and organised by Fuse Performance/Somerset Outdoor Arts in partnership with the Bridgwater Cultural Partnership. This year is the 8th year of the festival which supports local talent, inclusivity and diversity.
